Mandibular reconstruction with microvascularized graft after ameloblastoma resection: case series

Ameloblastoma is a locally aggressive and highly infiltrative tumor with high recurrence rate. Its multicystic form the recommended treatment resection safety margin, which results in significant facial defects esthetic functionals repercussions. Microvascular surgery revolutionized reconstruction of because these grafting techniques allow more satisfactory aesthetic functional restoration. This study aimed to report series cases reconstructions mandibular using microvascularized fibular graft after ameloblastoma resection. Six patients were included this study, we collected data related surgical procedure, diagnosis, complications follow-up. The characterized as four women two men, mean age 23.8 years, diagnosis located mainly body, angle ramus. These underwent lesion resection, resulting larger than 5 cm, justified for its reconstruction. evolved well, good without recurrences or postoperative follow-up 2 years. that reaches large dimensions causes excellent cosmetic damage. an alternative reconstructing allows morphofunctional reestablishment minimal complications.
